Valuing Ourselves and Each Other

WELCOME!

This blog is a place for women to share their thoughts and reflections, and to learn from one another, about what Communion in church means to us and how we understand it.

It is part of a post doctoral research project into the use of social media and web-based resources to encourage open, accessible discussion to resource the development of theology which values the voices of women.

VALUING OURSELVES AND EACH OTHER: PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST

It’s great you are here! Your voice, thoughts, feeling and ideas are really important to this project, which is about hearing from every woman who wants to contribute.

You don’t need to be a signed up member of any particular church or group to have views about Communion – but the research I talk about on this site was all based on young (18-35yrs) women’s experiences of Communion in the Church of England.

Two very brief requests:

  1. Have courage to share your own point of view – it is as important as mine or anyone else’s.
  2. Treat others’ views with the gentleness and respect you’d like them to show to yours.

There is likely to be a huge range of views, stories, hurts and hopes here.

Our rich diversity as people and children of God means we’re not always going to agree! but hopefully we can have a conversation for mutual learning, growing and support – not a debate.

Instead of saying why you feel another person is wrong, please just try offering your own suggestion or perspective alongside it. There is space for all our differences 🙂

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
